8 Reasons EA Aren't Doing As Bad As You Think
2. Their Monopoly On Sports Monopoly
The key to EA's survival is in the fact that they have a monopoly of the Sports game genre. There are very few popular sports games that don't fall under EA's margins and they are the driving force in that marketplace. Breaking into their territory would be impossible, and EA knows this. Yearly releases and the same loot box systems thrive in sports games, and it is what keeps them afloat.
They can afford to take hits in other departments because their sports games are always there to pick up the slack. Whilst EA might look like the Titanic crashing against an iceberg, they have plenty sports games to act as lifeboats.
Not to mention that their sports games have a dedicated audience. There are thousands of people who always buy the next instalment of Fifa and probably play it exclusively. So, there is zero chance of their biggest cash cow dissapearing any time soon.
