1. We Actually Want Something Different (For A While)
Before it came out, everyone was looking at Watch_Dogs thinking, "Well, I can see what they're doing, but I quite like the idea of a modern day Assassin's Creed". Lo and behold you'll be more than aware of how that turned out, but it created an interesting talking point - when should a developer move on from a lucrative franchise? From Naughty Dog's multiple cross-generational leaps from Crash Bandicoot to Jak and Daxter, Uncharted to The Last of Us - so too should Ubisoft embrace the fact that either giving a character away to another developer with a fresh pair of eyes (or putting them to bed for a while) can be a good thing. Say Ubi move away from AC and devote the 12 team-strong workforce that are pumping these things out to something like a new Splinter Cell, or an entirely new IP. Right now another Watch_Dogs is about as welcome as a raw steak dinner at a vegan wedding, but at least that would show some forward momentum. At the end of the day, gamers have never been ones to endlessly harp on about sequels to arrive as soon as possible. Quite the opposite - just think of how many times you've replayed titles in your collection; it's the fact the developers space out sequels that makes you cherish each and every one. So take a step back, reallocate teams that must be sick to death of working on the same games over and over, and surely that'll be better for everyone? What's your take on Assassin's Creed in 2015? Did you even remember it was coming out, being MGS V and Fallout 4 are dominating pre-orders right now? Let us know in the comments, and check out the full Gaming section for more!
