8 Reasons Spider-Man PS4 Is Already The Best Spider-Man Game Ever

4. Adapting Different Villains

Insomniac

Rather than trawl through all the usual suspects from Spider-Man's rogues' gallery - like Doc Ock, Green Goblin et al. - Insomniac's game is looking to depict something much different. The game's ostensible antagonist - Martin Li, the villainous Mister Negative - is only a decade old, having been introduced during Dan Slott's run on Spider-Man.

Irrespective of whether or not you think Mister Negative will occupy an ancillary role, Insomniac's title looks set to be one of the few Spider-Man games to truly carve out its own identity. Wilson Fisk - the notorious Kingpin of Crime - will of course feature, but only from within the confines of his prison cell.

Factor in Norman Osborn's mayoral campaign, as well as the fact that villains like Shocker and Taskmaster are filling a side role and that Vulture, Rhino, Scorpion and Electro have all been beaten by the time the game takes place, and the game looks set to offer a refreshing take on Spider-Man's villains.

Of course people want to see the classic enemies - especially so, given how long it's been since we've gotten a Spider-Man game of real importance - but the focus on the new over the old is delightful.
