Though this would probably be a given already, remembering that Insomniac have opted to tell a story about a Spider-Man deep into his career, the attention to detail in this latest title is magnificent.
Everything, from the interiors, to the suits, to the various nods and references to the wider Marvel Universe and the characters set to feature is stunning, and further contributes to the sense that the title will return Spidey to gaming greatness.
It's an approach pioneered by Rocksteady, who grabbed the superhero genre by the collar and punted it upward to critical and commercial reverence with Arkham Asylum, and it's an influence the wall-crawler is set to benefit from massively. This is very much Insomniac's game though, and in conveying all aspects of Spider-Man - whether it be his speed, humour or the many characters to have graced his comics - it looks as though they've found their true calling.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
