8 Terrible Video Games Made By Amazing Developers

3. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days - IO Interactive

A lot of the games covered on this list so far have been ones that the developers obviously didn't want to make, either forced into it because of contractual obligations or as a necessary evil to keep the company afloat. IO Interactive's Kane and Lynch series, though, was made under the exact opposite set of circumstances.

While the original effort was at least a pretty solid - if uninspired - third-person crime shooter, the sequel was disappointing in every way. Attempting to double down on the play-as-the-villains gimmick which gave the first title at least a bit of a bite, the follow up tried to be even edgier. Smearing the visuals and making the game appear as if it was shot on shaky cam, the very act of playing the sequel was an ugly, infuriating prospect.

It didn't help that the actual shooting was terrible either, somehow even less refined than in the original game, which transformed firefights into a total slog. The only saving grace was that it was mercifully short - though that probably wasn't much of a perk to the players who picked up the sequel at full price.
