8 Times DLC Ruined The Base Game

4. All The Inventory Packs - Dead Space 2

The Steam version of Dead Space 2 comes complete with a generous bevy of inventory packs which ensure you'll be able to acquire a ton of awesome supped-up suits and weaponry for free from the in-game store right from the jump.

Great though that might sound in theory, it rather undermines the point of a survival horror game to make the player completely capable from the get-go, and worse still, there's no easy way for players to disable the DLC in this version of the game.

While you're certainly free to just... not use these suits and weapons, it's still resoundingly lame that players have to basically enforce scarcity upon themselves if they want to have the "proper" Dead Space 2 experience.

Resource management is a major part of the game, and this DLC totally works against that.

Even just knowing that you've got these suits and weapons mere clicks away lessens the thrill of survival, giving players a wildly unnecessary crutch in the process.
