8 TV Shows That Should Be Video Games

6. Dexter

Now this is admittedly a little sneaky. I am aware that there have been video game adaptations of this series, but since they have only been available on mobile devices or PCs, and with plans for console versions unfairly scrapped, I feel it's appropriate to include 'Dexter' here. The series follows its titular protagonist, Dexter, who works for the Miami Metro Police Department, but is also a serial killer. This absurd paradox is the kind of thing that makes Dexter perfect for a video game protagonist, and the gameplay options for this premise are practically endless. Dexter's double life means that he has to be incredibly careful at all times, but also means that he is more than well equipped enough to do so. His profession with the police gives him an insight into how to avoid being caught, whereas his serial killer mind give him a unique perspective that others on the force wouldn't have. Dexter is the kind of character that is perfect for a video game with a lot of choice and consequence gameplay, and a console game based on the series could perhaps even benefit from a good/evil meter like that of 'Star Wars: KOTOR' to allow players to see which of Dexter's "professions" they are more proficient in. Ultimately a Dexter video game would have to be set in a semi-sandbox world to allow for exploration of both of the protagonists lives and this type of freedom may make it difficult for the game to remain truly linked to the series at all times. This would be a risk worth taking though, as a unique character like Dexter is one that I for one would definitely relish the opportunity to take control of in a game.
