8 ULTRA Rare Video Game Items You’ll Never Own

5. Pink Mercy - Overwatch

One of the only items featured on this list whose inflated price and forced scarcity turned into something incredible, Overwatch's "Pink Mercy" skin raised $12.7 million for the Breast Cancer Research Facility thanks to only being available for two weeks at $15 in 2019.

Yes, this was quite a lot for a skin, and I guess you can make the case that something as simple as a cosmetic could be made available at some point down the line, but the uniqueness and exclusivity here was the point. That insane amount of money simply wouldn't have been made if Blizzard changed any one part of the campaign's ruleset.

Still, fans have been clamouring for this skin to return ever since. Many have said they'd happily pay double, and why not extend the notion to the rest of the roster?

Charity-focused skins are far from a mainstay across gaming, and with Blizzard refusing to budge either way - even to address people asking for more ways to donate to various charities through the game - it doesn't feel like it will ever change.

For that very short period we got a window into how much good a limited edition skin or item could do if the proceeds go to something truly worthwhile, why not do more?
