8 ULTRA Rare Video Game Items You’ll Never Own
4. Nuka Dark Rum - Fallout 76
Very few "death by 1000 cuts" metaphors see the person being stabbed also holding the knife. And yet, with Fallout 76, Bethesda could not stop messing up.
Besides a broken game at the centre and a ton of false advertising surrounding a "Deluxe Edition" that couldn't even deliver a canvas bag, simultaneously, a separate farce unfolded around the "premium $80 product", Nuka Dark Rum.
Months before Fallout 76 had launched, Bethesda began advertising for a tie-in drinks item from the Silver Screen Bottling Company - something would be a deluxe collector's item for hardcore Fallout fans, assumedly to sip while exploring a fully functional online wasteland.
As consumers received their products though, Nuka Dark Rum became a laughing stock.
Like Fallout 76, the item received wasn't what was advertised. Silver Screen had gone with a cheap plastic casing rather than glass, contradicting available footage of the drink being made. The shape of the bottle made it near-impossible to actually pour, and the flavour wasn't even anything to write home about.
Understandably, all those who bought in were furious, and with Bethesda saying nothing as the SSBC attempted to justify what they'd done, the product line was removed from sale and never spoken of again, by literally anyone.
