8 Upcoming Star Wars Video Games That Have Fans Excited
6. Respawn's Strategy Star Wars Game
Despite EA losing the exclusivity rights to Star Wars video games, that's not entirely bad news for those eager to see something different from EA. If anything, losing the exclusivity rights seems to have convinced EA to pour as much love and attention into the IP as possible, as the publisher is currently working on three Star Wars titles.
Announced in January 2022 alongside Jedi: Survivor and a shooter, Respawn revealed they would be producing a strategy game set in the galaxy far, far away. The company also said they would be working on the title with Bit Reactor, a new studio that specialises in the strategy genre and that's headed up by video game veteran Greg Foertsch.
The Star Wars strategy game will be the first of its kind for quite a while, considering the last Star Wars game in that genre was 2006's Empire at War (pictured above). Still, if Respawn's new strategy title is anything like Empire at War, it should be well-received by fans. Considering the game is being overseen by Foertsch - the mastermind behind one of the best strategy games ever, XCOM 2 - this Star Wars offering certainly has a good chance of being great.
