8 Upcoming Star Wars Video Games That Have Fans Excited
5. Repawn's New Star Wars Shooter
Despite the major loot box controversy at the launch of Star Wars: Battlefront II in 2017, the game was eventually left in a really good place and has now been accepted as one of the stronger Star Wars titles. So, fans of the Battlefront series were happy to hear that Star Wars had not forgotten about the shooter genre completely.
In January 2022, EA announced that, as well as the strategy game and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Respawn were also going to produce a first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe.
As part of that announcement, Respawn Game Director Peter Hirschmann said:
"Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell."
Hirschmann had previously worked on the original Battlefront games from 2004 and 2005, so having him attached to the project should be a very good sign for the game's quality.
According to recent LinkedIn job posts, this to-be-titled game will be a story-driven single-player offering not dissimilar to Titanfall 2 and is "inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2".
While not including multiplayer might be disappointing for some, this upcoming title sounds like it could be worth the wait.
