8 Upcoming Video Game Remakes That SHOULD NOT EXIST

2. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Horizon zero dawn
Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the one entry into the franchise that even those who don’t care for the genetic memory assassination nonsense still enjoy, with its pirate theme and emphasis on naval combat helping it stand out among the series’ more familiar installments.

And last summer, Kotaku reported that a remake was in the early stages of development under Skull and Bones developer Ubisoft Singapore.

While this immediately prompted many to joke that the Black Flag remake would probably be released before Skull and Bones - which finally came out recently - if you’ve played Black Flag lately you’ll likely appreciate that it’s aged like a damn tasty bottle o’ rum.

For an 11-year-old title, both the gameplay and especially the graphics hold up terrifically, and if you’re playing on PC, some absolutely majestic 4K texture mods make the prospect of a remake seem incredibly unnecessary.

At absolute most, this “needs” a quick and dirty remaster spit-shine for consoles, and if Ubisoft is going to remake any Assassin’s Creed game from the ground-up, it should probably be the considerably more ill-aged 2007 original.
