4. Assassin's Creed Origins' Climbing Animations Are STILL The Same

Despite taking a year off to re-energise and overhaul the series, Assassin's Creed Origins is still exhibiting some of the same problems that have plagued the series for years now.

While the core gameplay structure looks to be more or less the same (with the differences that are present looking like they could have been copied and pasted from any other open world game in the Ubisoft stable), it's the climbing and traversal animations that indicate how little has actually changed between Syndicate and Origins.

Although it was a signature mechanic in the early games, the climbing mechanics are in desperate need of a reinvention in order to make this element of the series fun again. But Ubisoft doesn't seem interested in changing up its core movement animations, and is content for the dated feel to make climbing a complete chore once again.

Assassin's Creed is no longer the only game out there with a parkour system, and its competitors started to overshadow its once-best feature ages ago. The franchise is hoping to come back with a bang at the end of this year, but it'll be met with barely a whimper if they don't finally get rid of this archaic system.
