8 Video Game Characters Hiding Terrible Secrets

5. Isabella - Dragon Age

No More Heroes
Bioware

When you've lived a life as fraught with despair, betrayal, and dishonesty as much as Isabela from Dragon Age has then it's pretty understandable why the character doesn't much love revisiting her past actions. However while fans of the video game series might come to see her as a "rogue with a heart of gold", fans who delved into the cannon comic book tie-in might have a much harsher opinion of her.

You see, while it's somewhat possible to justify her actions based on the information we're given in the games, namely the fact that her father was a thief, her mother sold her into a loveless marriage, and that she had an affair which ended up getting her former husband murdered, in the comics, there exists one utterly heinous act which will forever change how you view Isabela.

The comic recounts a moment where, while being pursued by a ship, she orders that her cargo be dumped offside. Problem is, however, that this "cargo" is the slaves that she's transporting. Isabella knows she'll die if she's caught as the pursuing ship hangs slavers, and so instantly makes the decision to drown them in order to escape. It's a truly horrible moment that shattered many fans' perceptions of the character, and suddenly her well-known line of "our actions make us who we are" showcases that what she is, is a real piece of s**t.
