8 Video Game Curses You Actually Want

Upon picking up The Cursed Shield from the almighty Final Fantasy VI you might immediately look at its effects and make a face like if Max Payne was eating a lemon, seeing as the shield, as the name implies, curses you with terrible stats across the board.

However what if I told you that this was actually one of the best pieces of equipment in the game?

Well, truth be told I'd be lying but it does TURN into that holiest of holy relics after an ungodly challenge is presented to the player. For you see in order to reveal the true power of the Cursed Shield, you must carry it into battle on one of your party members 256 TIMES, upon which you will receive The Paladin's Shield!

Now that's a lot of curse to suffer through (and likely you'd be cursing a lot yourself while getting through those battles), but trust me it's worth it, because not only does the shield provide excellent defensive buffs such as Elemental Absorption, but it also allows the wielder to learn Ultima, one of the most powerful spells in the game and in short supply of places to learn it from!

So this is most definitely a curse you'd want to bear, if only for the sweet relief of finally getting The Paladin's Shield.
