8 Video Game Decisions You HAD To Make (Because You Weren't Levelled Enough)

6. Death By Ceiling Fan - Disco Elysium

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Cait Sith
ZA/UM

Ah, Disco Elysium, the game that memorably punished anyone who didn't invest enough in Physique skills by killing them with a ceiling fan in its opening minutes. Yes, you read that right.

The game begins with the player waking up hungover in their underpants in a trashed hotel room with no memory of who they are, and the first thing your attention will likely be diverted to is the ceiling fan whirring away above your head with a tie attached to it.

Interact with the fan and you'll be given several options, one of which involves reaching up to grab the tie, and honestly, who among us could resist doing so?

Even with your chances of successfully grabbing it being incredibly low if you haven't prioritised Physique attributes, it'd surely result in nothing worse than the protagonist tripping over or something, right?

Wrong.

Hilariously, it'll immediately cause your character to experience debilitating chest pains before dropping dead of a heart attack on the spot.

If you prefaced mental attributes, you had no option but to suffer death-by-ceiling-fan, which also immediately let you know precisely what sort of game Disco Elysium really is.
