8 Video Game Franchises That Will Never Have Satisfying Endings
7. Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor
The problem with ending Shadow of Mordor, should they decide to do so in one of the future instalments, is that we already know how the story ends.
Sauron doesn't get defeated by Talion. He gets defeated by Frodo and the Fellowship. Any secondary villain they bring in to fight Talion won't be a formidable foe considering how the canon story plays out. It's hard to throw a curve ball at the player in an established universe.
Take Minas Ithil, the city that has been shown of in all the promos. By the time the events of the Lord of the Rings play out, The Witch King has taken over the city, meaning that any attempts we make to save the city in the game are null and void. All in all, any ending that they decide to go for would be difficult to make bombastic and epic considering the preexisting constraints Tolkien's world has.
And considering the fanbase for Tolkien's work is adamant that nothing be changed, it's even harder to create a crowd-pleasing ending that isn't entirely telegraphed hours before it happens.
