8 Video Game Franchises That Will Never Have Satisfying Endings
5. The Arkham Series
The Arkham Series has always been a stickler when it came to endings. Asylum had the 'roided up Joker that completely changed the direction of the game. Origins had a pitiful fist-fight that just seemed tacked on, and Knight had the surprise twist that a four-year-old could figure out alongside the abhorrent Knightfall ending that required the player to complete the Riddler puzzles - also known as hell incarnate - just to access an additional cutscene.
It's safe to say that the series creates excellent games that don't really stick the landing, with City being the exception to the rule. And with Insurgency due to be revealed at E3 this year, the series looks to be prolonging itself that extra little bit affording more chances for disappointing endings.
And with the rumours that Bruce Wayne is mentoring a young Damien Wayne in the way of the Batman, it's likely that the game will undercut the admittedly poignant ending that the Knightfall sequence gave us. By revealing that Batman didn't die, it could completely take away from the ambiguous ending that Arkham Knight had, ultimately taking away one of the best aspects of the game.
By extending the series, chances are that the new game will tamper with the pre-existing ending and possibly make it even more disappointing than it already was. Combine with that the track record of the series and chances are we're in for another great game, with a letdown of an ending.
