8 Video Game Franchises That Will Never Have Satisfying Endings

The original Mass Effect trilogy was an epic space adventure that combined decent combat and gameplay with an intriguing world. Add on some of the best characters ever put in a game and you've got a beloved video game franchise. However, it was let down by the infamous ending that completely sullied its positive reputation, profoundly insulting fans of the series in the process.

Admittedly, Mass Effect 3 had some impossible standards to live up to, but even with the fan expectations, none expected it to be as bad as it was. And with the recent car crash that was Mass Effect: Andromeda, it's unlikely that we will see a Mass Effect game for some time if at all, robbing us of that climatic ending to the series' revamped purpose we all want.

Sure, many got the DLC that fleshed out the original trilogy's ending, but the franchise as a whole lacks a final and fitting send off. A send off we likely won't see for a long while if at all. And if we do see it, it will take a lot of work and effort to satisfy fans who are slowly losing faith in the IP.

It's a sad truth, but Mass Effect just doesn't look like it'll get that epic last adventure.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
