8 Video Game Franchises That Will Never Have Satisfying Endings

2. Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid 5 was set up to be the final instalment that would wrap up the ludicrously complex and intricate story that the series had been famous for. And whilst it was certainly a long shot that Hideo Kojima would bring some semblance of finality and satisfaction to his complicated masterpiece, everyone knew he'd probably find a way.

And then... it kind of fell flat.

The ending had numerous plot holes and story threads that remained a little too loose, in dire need of extra detail. It was postulated that the answers and 'true final ending' were hidden in the elusive mission 51, a piece of cut content that supposedly wrapped everything up, but we heard nothing of the sort, short of watching an unfinished version on the game's bonus disc.

On top of that, Konami has now pushed their latest instalment out into the limelight: Metal Gear: Survive. And considering how Kojima, the man who brought sense to a nonsensical story, is not on board, it's quite possible that Survive will do nothing but tarnish the memory of the fantastic series and leave it even more unsatisfactory in its ending.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
