8 Video Game Mechanics Harder Than The Final Boss

4. Clone Co-Op - We Are One

The recently released VR shooter We Are One offers up one hell of a unique hook - albeit one that's quite the trip to get to grips with, especially when factoring in the loopy dimensionality of a virtual reality headset.

This ingenious puzzle-shooter grants players the ability to create clones of themselves which can repeat their previous moves in a time loop.

By teaming up with an army of effectively programmable clones and chaining their looped motions together, you can traverse the land, obtain weapons, and defeat robot enemies.

There's a steady ramping up in the complexity of the puzzles, ensuring that you truly need to have your thinking cap on to make it all the way to the end.

Now to be completely fair, We Are One doesn't actually have a traditional final boss fight, but its climactic stage - a 10-minute gauntlet against a fleet of seemingly never-ending robotic foes - still feels like child's play after hours of mind-melting clone-based co-op carnage.
