2. Character Interaction And Detective Work In L.A. Noire

One of the more interesting prospects of virtual reality is how it could place a greater emphasis on character interaction than traditional gunplay or hack-and-slash adventuring. Talking face-to-face with an Asari in a first-person Mass Effect could be more exciting than hiding behind cover for the hundredth time, for example, and although many were perhaps a bit too dazzled by the realism of L.A. Noire€™s facial expressions when it was released, it could€™ve been a feature that was ahead of its time (by a whopping four years or so). L.A. Noire€™s realistic facial expressions led to a game mechanic in itself, with the player, in the role of a police detective, having to observe facial tics and eye movements in order to determine whether their witnesses and suspects were being truthful or not.
