8 Video Game Secrets That Were A Waste Of Time

As if the exceptional Metal Gear Solid wasn't enough, Hideo Kojima and his team turned the valve on the hype pipe by pumping out a stunning expansion to the game titled Metal Gear Solid: Special Missions, and trust me that is a very apt name as this was a chef kiss experience made up of VR training missions designed to push players to their limits.

Alongside the obvious stealth missions, players could master each of the game's weapons as well as take on custom challenges all of which combined to make a wonderful distillation of everything that made MGS special. However, the moment that players saw the 300+ missions, players gulped at the fact that they just knew Kojima would have hidden something that would only be unlocked by completing all of them, and of course, they were right.

However in a rare miss from the auteur director, for many this secret absolutely sucked.

Now on paper, a secret photo of a Metal Gear Ray which would inform fans of what to expect from Metal Gear Solid 2 would turn super fans into monkeys in nappies, however, the execution left something to be desired. For one the image was as confusing as the plot of Death Stranding, and the visual fidelity looked as greasy as Fatman's arteries, but the real kicker was that you could only view the image once, meaning if you clicked off you'd lose your ability to see it again despite all the hard work you'd put in!

Therefore this was a secret that should have been amazing but instead became a true WTF moment for several reasons.
