8 Video Game Sequels That Changed EVERYTHING

4. Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures

In another example of taking a license that was printing so much green that Snoop Dogg couldn't even smoke it and changing absolutely EVERYTHING, let's take a look at the curious case of Pac-Man: The New Adventures, which might well be the most radical departure from the source material that I've ever seen.

When you think of Pac-Man you likely think of ghosts, pellets, and munching your way through both in a multitude of mazes. You probably don't think of helping Pac-Man get milk for his crying child or helping him rescue a guitar that was stolen by some bullies, nor would you expect to not actually be in control of Pac-Man at all.

Yes, that's right, in a move so bizarre that it meant that the fanbase was left making the same face as Pac-Man is on the front cover, you don't actually directly control the little pellet muncher, but instead, take up the role of a sort of omnipresent figure who manipulates the environment in order to solve Pac-Mans problems.

It's a rather thankless job however as Pac-Man sometimes straight up refuses to listen to you and will sometimes shout at you for annoying him. Brilliant.
