8 Video Game Sequels That Fixed EVERYTHING
5. Borderlands 2
Can we all just take a second and just appreciate how utterly brilliant Borderlands 2 is as both a sequel but also just as a looter-shooter?
I still get pangs to fire up the old beast and run through the hundred hours or so of content that awaits thanks to extensive expansions and DLC because the gameplay loop it presents is so utterly polished it becomes a silver tray on which a multitude of mad weaponry rests.
"Would sir like the gun that explodes when you reload?"
The original Borderlands set things in motion but was curtailed by a narrative that seemed more like an afterthought, and an ending that was quite frankly, more than a little disappointing.
Borderlands 2 has no such issue putting meat on the bones of the experience with one of the most charismatic villains ever and uses Handsome Jack's ear-worm charisma to pull the narrative through to conclusion.
The range of weapons feels like an explosion of ideas, and the characters you meet along the way are both memorable and don't overstay their welcome.
Plus the shooting mechanics and skill tree system have been tightened to such an extent that the game becomes a razor wire, cutting through other looter-shooters and showing them all how things should be done.
