8 Video Game Sequels That Removed Amazing Features
7. Lack Of Career Depth - EA Sports Nascar
Ok so I'll level with you, of all the racing sports out there, the least interesting one to me personally has to be NASCAR. I get that people enjoy the speed and the endurance it must take to compete in these races, but aside from that, it looks like the equivalent of pushing your Hotwheels cars around an oval while a really, really drunk crowd yells at you to crash.
Still, when it comes to the video game iterations of the sport, there are some absolute classics in the lineup, as fans of the NASCAR Thunder series would attest to. Here, alongside some pretty decent graphics for the time, players could create custom cars, and burn more rubber than the Flash at an orgy all night long.
Of note, the in-depth career modes for these games became something to talk about, as with each passing year more and more emphasis was placed on taking your racer from rags to riches, building garages and rivalries as they went.
Therefore it was a bit of a shock when EA changed the franchise to EA Sports NASCAR and removed this feature all but entirely. Now fans were left with a much more barebones affair and it took a long old while to get anything close to this granular experience again.
