8 Video Game Tie-Ins BETTER Than The Original

5. The Mummy Demastered

The moment that Marvel established the MCU, Universal fled to its laboratory and started cackling with delight. As the world grew to love seeing interconnected films with characters dipping and re-appearing between them, Universal threw switches, poured potions and of course harnessed the power of lightning to breathe life into their own horrifying creation.

The result was The Dark Universe, a series of films that would include all of the big-time Universal horror monsters, and they would kick things off with a remake of The Mummy.

Unfortunately, however, Universal's Frankenstein's Monster(s) failed to be the muscle mommy they needed and instead was sent crying to daddy after critics obliterated it and audiences shrugged with apathy. This makes it all the more surprising that the video game tie-in for this game isn't just good compared to the source, but it's legitimately one of the best games. period.

And yet I had to get Scott Tailford to tell me this game even existed as the promotion for The Mummy Demastered was put under wraps.

For those that somehow found the game, they got to experience a lovingly crafted title in the vein of Metroid or Castlevania (if only there was a word to combine the two) that looked as good as it was to play. In truth the game was so good that there's even a conspiracy theory that the film production team purposely hampered the promotion of Demastered as they were painfully aware that the game was so much better than their product.

While this is likely to be untrue, it's very fun to imagine.
