8 Video Games Even Diehard Fans Hate
1. Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5
I can't think of a time I was more disappointed than when I loaded up THPS5 for the first time and saw what a mess it was. Maybe when my parents divorced, but then again my parents never made me feel it was my fault for the split, whereas this game made me feel awful for having supported the franchise.
This was meant to be the great return of The Birdman but was more a budgie being thrown into a ceiling fan because this is easily one of the most half-arsed and genuinely awful games I've ever played. With the Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD remake not too far away from this titles release, there was hope that mistakes made in that attempt would be addressed here, but somehow things were worse.
The graphics were at once over-saturated and low res, the soundtrack was utterly generic and the collision detection caused utter dismay. When your skater literally falls through the rail they are grinding on or you lose a combo trick out of nowhere, you have to asked whether this game was even play-tested.
This was the nail in the coffin for many who had already endured being laughed at for playing Ride and ridiculed for paying full price for Tony Hawk's motion, because THPS5 was like having your board broken in half, then being pushed down the half pipe and being charged for the privilege.
Avoid this game at all costs, even if you're a diehard fan.
