2. Seymour Flux - Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X is fondly remembered for its gripping story, unique grid-based levelling system and novel turn-based approach to combat. It's not so fondly remembered however, for its cringe-inducing 'laughing scene' and a very tough boss that goes by the name of Seymour Flux. The battle takes place on Mt. Gagazet, an environment that's as cold as the hearts of the sadistic creators responsible for programming this unforgiving monstrosity. Seymour starts the battle by using an attack called Lance of Anthropy that casts Zombie on its target. He will shortly follow this attack up with casting Full-Life on the same target, killing them immediately. Therefore it's crucial to cure Zombie with Holy Water as soon as possible. It only gets worse from here. His powerful physical attack Cross Cleave hits every character and takes off thousands of HP - easily enough to kill at least two characters in most cases. After a few turns he will begin to charge his Total Annihilation attack, which is pretty much guaranteed to be followed by a Game Over screen. Just keeping your party alive is a challenge, let alone inflicting damage on the boss. Seymour regularly casts Reflect, Shell and Protect on himself to greatly reduce the damage he sustains. Summons do little to help either, as Seymour banishes them after one turn. It all boils down to trying to kill him before he unleashes Total Annihilation, which is no easy task.
