Now in all honesty, I could have easily populated this list with entries on fighting game family feuds because whooo boy is this genre built on parental beatdowns and sibling rivalries, but I would be remiss if I didn't take the time to speak on a game that gets nowhere near enough love, a childhood fav and absolute stone cold clip to the feels, Rival Schools: United By Fate.

This wonderful playground scuffle of a title puts players in the shoes of multiple teens and even teachers at a school that settles all its scores in the best manner possible, by nigh-on killing each other in the parking lot after Art class.

Rivalries are the name of the game (quite literally in fact) but it's the interesting dynamic between teachers Hideo and Kyoko who have been brainwashed by the evil principal of the school in order to recruit students to a secret organization whilst also keeping prying eyes closed through booting them in the face.

As the game progresses you finally shake the pair free from the mind control and begin working on the side of Justice to bring this School Of Very Hard Knocks down, but before that can happen there's one final confrontation between the pair of teachers, which leads to quite the emotional moment. For you see Hideo is deeply in love with Kyoko but hasn't had the courage to voice his feelings, and it takes all of his being to bring himself to battle his true love.

Don't worry though sports fans as once the pair is free from the brain vice, Hideo proposes and Kyoko accepts, leading to a beautiful slice of romantic cheese that even a lactose-intolerant person wouldn't be able to resist.
