8 Video Games That Punish You For Doing NOTHING!
3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)
The most universally beloved of the Metal Gear series, Metal Solid 3: Snake Eater is not without its dastardly secrets and crafty little workarounds for you to exploit. But that's not to say that these things always work in your favour.
One of the game's most memorable characters is The End, a centenarian sniper and one of the most skilled members of the legendary Cobra Unit. He is fiercely dedicated to killing Naked Snake, able to wait for days at a time in one position for an opportunity to hunt down his prey.
A good fight against Snake is his dying wish, letting you know just what you're getting yourself into. You will naturally want to save at this point, buuut...
If you wait a whole week before returning to the game, Snake will discover that The End has died of old age.
On one hand, you, as the player, might be punching the air at the fact you've just outsmarted the game. But on the other hand, Snake's disappointment about not giving The End the final hunt he so wanted is likely to resonate with you just as much.
Waiting so long to see the conclusion of this fight left you with an anticlimax that actually makes you feel sorry for the villain. In reality, is the villain here yourself?
