8 Video Games That Punish You For Doing NOTHING!
2. Animal Crossing Series (2001-)
Apparently, gone are the days when you could boot up a nice, lighthearted game, play it for half an hour, then close it to get on with the rest of your day. Now, you're expected to be riveted to the thing, every day of your life, or, as the Animal Crossing games demonstrate, there'll be hell to pay!
Your town is your whole raison d'ĂȘtre in Animal Crossing, from its inhabitants to the scenery and everything in-between. You'll want to keep it in tip-top condition at all times, making sure to pull up the weeds and clear away the rubbish around the place for the wellbeing of your neighbours.
What the game doesn't tell you is that if you go even a SINGLE day without playing, your town will be overrun with litter, unruly shrubbery and all sorts of other bunkum. On top of that, residents will leave if things get too bad.
All this happens without you knowing, as the game's clock continues to run even when the console isn't switched on.
This time around, being punished for doing nothing is hardly your fault - you weren't even aware of it in the first place.
