8 Video Games That Punish You For Doing NOTHING!
1. Alien: Isolation (2014)
Most survival horror games require you to be on the move at all times, with any number of things lurking in the shadows ready to pounce out at you if you stay in one place too long. Alien: Isolation is very much an example of this, but with a continually evolving apex predator after you, your tactics are never just as simple as running away.
Amanda Ripley ends up trapped on the immense Sevastopol space station with a handful of survivors and, you guessed it, a fully grown xenomorph. Like her mother before her, Ripley has next to nothing to fend this creature off with, making her most viable option to keep out of its way at all costs.
You might think you're safe inside one of the hundreds of vents you crawl your way through over the course of the game. Serving to bridge the gaps between set pieces, it'd be understandable if you assumed the alien couldn't get you in there.
You'd assume wrong, my friend.
In fact, waiting around in there too long is precisely what blows your cover, as the alien can track your scent, and its ever-learning AI will adapt to your cowardly tactics over time. In short, there's no safety to be found within the darkness of the vents, and here, your cautiousness may just be your downfall.
