8 Video Games That Started Out Totally Different

Today we all know Banjo and Kazooie to go hand in hand with the Nintendo 64. This colourful collection had such an impact in its early entries that some would go as far as to say it rivalled the likes of Super Mario 64. Though we all know this is a wild claim to make and the plumber is still bouncing on Goombas to this day.

But as iconic of a duo Banjo and Kazooie are, it was once not meant to be with earlier versions of this game, titled Project Dream. This cancelled Rare game would’ve pushed the Super Nintendo to the limit of the cutting edge console graphics of the time. Then when it was later moved to the N64 it was less than amazing, to say the least.

Kazooie was even meant to still be around as a tiny birdy helper before being stuffed in the backpack. Though nothing really jumped out of the screen and the character moved all stilled and weird, this version was never going to recoup development cost and was eventually scrapped.

Rare certainly made the right call here.
