8 Video Games That Took Forever To Get Good
2. The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings
If there's one thing that you would struggle to call The Witcher series, it's boring, seeing as nine times out of ten you're either smashing the face off of a monstrous creature of myth and legend or being strangely aroused by them.
However, that's not to say the series was always operating at optimum levels across its tenure, because while the Witcher 2 sought to fix a lot of the jank of the original and streamline the combat into something more manageable, it also seemed to hold the player's hand for a lot longer than many were expecting.
The opening hours of The Witcher 2, feel like an elongated tutorial, which makes sense considering the number of changes made between games, but it never really sought to make these moments feel connected to the game world.
It was transparently obvious what mechanics were being taught, and it was only after the reigns were handed to the player did the luscious side content and the enthralling main story really take hold.
So, while you'd never claim this game as ever being "bad" it just wasn't living up to the expectations its own series had set for a fair old while before suddenly delivering a truly outstanding experience.
