8 Video Games You Bought Just For A Mini-game

6. Motor Kombat - Mortal Kombat Armageddon

Resident Evil 5
Warner Bros. Interactive

Mortal Kombat Armageddon is the literal definition of "throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks" as it's genuinely baffling how much extra content has been stuffed into this title. Not only do you get a huge single-player narrative thanks to its impressively deep Konquest mode, but you also had the most swollen roster to date, the ability to create your own fighter, a tonne of unlockables and....

A KART RACER!

I remember looking at the screen when I'd unlocked this thinking it was going to be a tiny and tatty mini-game with maybe one track and two racers, but then being blown away by the fact that this is a, dare I say it, genuinely DECENT kart racer!

True it handles a little like your vehicles are on ice at all times, but if you're playing as Sub-zero you could just lean into the meta-roleplaying of it all, and it's hard not to laugh when you slam the likes of Kitana into a firey pit using the games "ram" button. Plus each character gets a special move meaning that more thought went into this entire mini-game than most terrible kart racers at the time that were sold at full price.

What a bargain.
