8 Video Games You Didn't Know Had KILLER Hidden Features
5. Resident Evil 2 - The Fourth Survivor
You have to give a big round of applause to Capcom for the early Resident Evil entries, as not only are these games considered to be the benchmark of survival horror titles even to this day but somehow, in between all the rabid dogs jumping through windows and terrifying hulking super-soldiers, they managed to add in a brilliant extra mode that would go on to spawn its own cult following and even its own game!
I'm speaking of course about The 4th Survivor which would go on to become The Mercenaries mode in future titles, and what a bloody brilliant mini-game this was. Telling the events of HUNK, the all-time best-named character in the series, the player would pilot the Umbrella Operative on a desperate race against time to escape Racoon City. The added time constraint, plus the joy of remixed areas and enemies was an utter thrill ride from start to finish, and rewarded players for putting the hours in on the main scenarios as it could only be unlocked by completing both and achieving an A rank on at least one of them.
Plus if this wasn't brilliant enough, you could also unlock The Tofu Survivor which lets you play as a living block of Tofu! Armed only with a knife, this was a real test of skill, yet it was so incredibly popular that it spawned an expanded version of the mode in the phenomenal Resident Evil 2 Remake!
