If you look back on the late 1990s, you'll notice that Japanese horror was having a moment. From successful novels and box office breaking movies, to ground breaking video games that paved the way all that followed, the output from the land of the rising sun was phenomenal. Just take a look at Japanese horror games in 1998 alone. We got Clock Tower 2 and Resident Evil 2, hells bells we even got light gun classic The House of the Dead 2. To cap it all off, we also got franchise starter Parasite Eve as well.

This role playing action game was adapted from a novel of the same name, and followed an NYPD cop investigating the horrific mass combustion of an opera audience on Christmas Eve. Now, spontaneous human combustion and Christmas are two words that can only go in the same sentence when talking about Parasite Eve, a game which see's you working over the biggest week of the holiday season; Christmas Day included.

Though it may not be remembered in the same breadth as the likes of Resident Evil, this Christmas set horror game is well worth your time.
