8 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Set At Christmas
6. Extermination
There were so so many games released for Playstation 2 (the best selling console of all time), and it is completely understandable if you never even played half of the ones that were released for it. Many indeed flew under the radar due to the consoles life span, and one such game was Extermination.
Developed by Deep Space (Hungry Ghosts), Extermination is a survival horror with strong 'The Thing' vibes. After receiving a distress call from a top secret research base in a remote location, a squad of Marines are sent in to investigate. Quite obviously this is a big mistake, and all hell breaks loose when the squad are separated. Not before long, they soon encounter nasty little creatures that can infect humans and cause them to mutate into even nastier monsters.
Nothing in the synopsis suggests anything remotely Christmassy about this long forgotten game, but it does actually take place on Christmas Eve in 2005. Just imagine how miffed you'd be if you got called in to an emergency situation with mutated humanoids the day before Christmas.
