8 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Set At Christmas
5. Toy Commander
Imagine if Toy Story played out like a war movie between old toys and new toys, and that is essentially what you get with Toy Commander. This colourful Dreamcast game from the now defunct studio No Cliché was a fun little game to play, albeit one with a challenging control system and steep learning curve.
The game followed a child named Andy (Toy Story vibes), who one fateful Christmas receives some brand spanking new gifts in the form of military units and army soldiers. Enamoured with his new playthings, Andy winds up neglecting the toys of his past in favour of these new ones (More Toy Story vibes). Inevitably, because toys have feelings too, the now forgotten ones take up arms and seek to destroy those pesky soldiers invading their turf.
Though the game is set at Christmas, there is nothing really festive in the game. However, the studio did release a Christmas themed demo called Toy Commander: Christmas Special that saw you actually play as Santa Claus in a jetpack. To be honest, it's arguably more fun than the base game.
