8 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Set At Christmas

2. Twisted Metal

Do you remember that vehicular combat video game franchise that had you fighting to the death in a more deadly take on Demolition Derby? Yeah, well for some reason the very first entry (and even its follow-up for that matter) in that series of games was set on Christmas Eve.

1995s Twisted Metal takes place the day before Christmas in a futuristic L.A. in 2005, where the mysterious Calypso holds a competition for drivers of all vehicles to come together, not for holiday cheer but to end each others lives. The prize for the sole surviving driver? A granted wish with no limits. When you knuckle down to it, Twisted Metal is actually quite a twisted game. You're basically murdering other drivers the night before Christmas and ensuring they'll never spend another holiday season with their family ever again, all so you can get your own wish granted. This is hardly yuletide spirit, but it is really fun to play.
