4. Gameplay Anyone Can Enjoy, With Simple Fixes From Uncharted 3
Speaking of Uncharted 3, Naughty Dog refined the core platforming-meets-Gears of War style of gameplay they'd first showcased in 2007, adding in a more robust melee attack system, slow-mo finishing moves on certain enemies, a healthy range of weapons and a bevy of incredible, physics-based levels to use them on. It was the best Uncharted had played yet, and although it couldn't quite match the lofty heights of its predecessor overall, was a solid instalment in the franchise. That same ideology of making minor refinements to a core engine that already runs incredibly smoothly is what we're in for come April. Literally, at this stage all that's needed is to ensure Drake's climbing animations don't overlap in a way that makes him squirrelly to control in combat, and for the love of GOD make it so ammunition is picked up automatically, and we're good. Honestly, that's it - which is crazy when you think about it. Thanks to the amount of time between releases, fans are more than up for simply 'more Uncharted', and it doesn't hurt that Naughty Dog are adding more stealth kills and a wicked cool grappling hook to swing through levels and drop onto enemies, either.
