8 Ways Video Games Punish You For Breaking Their Rules
2. Jade Empire
Jade Empire, the often forgotten and sadly overlooked BioWare RPG from 2005, features a neat little gambling game. Should players take advantage of the gambling mini-game that allows you play dice against a character name Daoshen, they'll encounter a fun little surprise.
As Jade Empire has a manual save system, players quickly discovered that by saving before playing against Daoshen it's possible to win every game you play against him by simply reloading to a previous save file every time you lose.
BioWare was clearly a few steps ahead of players however, as should you miraculously win 20 games in a row against Daoshen, he will quite literally explode into several pieces and you'll no longer be able to play the dice minigame and earn some extra money.
Should you be lucky enough to win 20 games without save-scumming, Daoshen will explode regardless - which undoubtedly confused a few players who legitimately achieved this feat. Winning 19 matches and then intentionally losing once won't help either, as Daoshen will stop playing against you if you win more than 5,000 silver pieces from him, proving that BioWare put way more thought into this one gambling mini-game than Mass Effect 3's ending.
