6. Dragon Age: Inquisition

Now, you could clean up Dragon Age: Inquisition in around 60 hours but you’d be doing yourself a disservice. Factoring in the game’s DLCs which are absolutely worth playing, the crummy fact that you have to pay for the true ending notwithstanding, the full version of the fantastic game will take you at least 100 hours. For those deeply embedded in the fantasy RPG series, it’s an absolute treat.

True, not everybody was a fan of the way BioWare’s 2014 threequel turned down the complexity of the RPG mechanics and fumbled the return of its tactical approach due to it being largely unnecessary.

All that said, these grievances were far outweighed by the game’s triumphs. Inquisition is representative of BioWare’s golden age, riddled with compelling things to do, fascinating characters to meet, decisions to make, opportunities for romance, and an exciting narrative throughline that makes the game very hard to put down. After a middling sequel, Inquisition restored Dragon Age to its former glory with its enormous and immersive open world that rewards exploration, gorgeous locations, colourful and strategic RPG combat encounters, and fantastic companions who are a joy to get to know and love.

It might not be a flawless ride but it certainly is one worth taking. Also, it’s still really funny that the game world Thedas is just a shortened version of ‘the Dragon Age setting’.
