Sonic Forces is Sega's latest attempt to revive the rather stagnant Sonic brand, which hasn't released a well-received title since 2011's Sonic Generations.

Though the ability to play as both classic and modern Sonic is a nice idea, the introduction of a custom hero character sounds like yet another desperate gimmick to keep the franchise relevant.

Even hardline Sonic fans will agree the series hasn't ever been particularly consistent, and in recent years the indie game boom has stolen away a lot of its platforming glory.

Could It Be Any Good?: Honestly, anything's possible, but the series' recent critical history suggests mediocre reviews are most likely.
