9 Biggest Horrible Gaming-Related Things Of 2021
7. Activision Blizzard's Sexual Harassment Allegations and Lawsuits
Sometimes we get so caught up in the excitement of the newest games releasing, we don't stop to think about what's going on behind closed doors at the people who develop them.
In what has to be one of the most awful stories of the year, Activision Blizzard has been absolutely plagued with lawsuits and stories of terrible conditions for its game developers, particularly around the subject of sexual harassment and discrimination, and a feeling that Activision is nothing but a big boy's club.
The stories are terrible - female employees speaking about being demoted for speaking out about sexual harassment and even a wider exposé on Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, who apparently knew about all of the sexual harassment claims and decided to do absolutely nothing about it.
In the wake of this story about Bobby there's been protests and walkouts at Activision, as people want the CEO to resign immediately. But no...Activision's board decided Bobby had done nothing wrong, stuck with him, and he's still sitting there getting his big fat bonus every year.
Something needs to change in the industry, and fast. Other companies this year, including big names such as Ubisoft, have been also plagued with similar claims.
Let's make 2022 the year when you all stop being assholes, hey game companies?
