6. Nintendo's Switch OLED Isn't the Switch Pro

The new Switch OLED is a nice bit of kit, but let's face it - it ain't what we all wanted.

Rumours of a new, improved version of the Switch have been circulating for years. This year in particular, multiple gaming outlets were reporting on the Switch Pro's announcement being imminent, and it was to be capable of 4K output and be more on par with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X while maintaining the Switch's lovely handheld form factor.

Then in July, Nintendo lifted the lid on their Switch revision, and it was nothing like we expected. Instead the new Switch OLED simply boasts a better screen and a few quality of life improvements such as a better stand and an ethernet port on the dock.

Those are nice, don't get us wrong, and the OLED screen is a thing of beauty, but....we wanted more. The prospect of potentially playing Breath of the Wild 2 in 4K, or a potential sequel to Mario Odyssey was right there for the taking...and Nintendo didn't deliver.

There's still time though - maybe in the next couple of years we'll see another Switch revision?
