9 Crucial Ways Microsoft Can Save The Xbox One At E3 2017
3. Ditch Hololens & Focus On The Games
Speaking of the need for games, how about you completely ditch the ultimately fruitless likes of Hololens, and embrace the third-party focused nature of both the Xbox One and Scorpio?
The issue is twofold:
1. Nobody cares about VR, especially on the console side. Not because they don't want to, but because nobody has given them a reason to. The notion of strapping a headset to your face is in itself gimmicky and unwieldy, a prospect unmitigated by the wealth of first-person shooters that litter Sony's library.
2. If Sony have the first-party side of things nailed down, dive headlong into third party. Microsoft already have systems in place to support backwards compatibility and (hopefully soon) a digital refund policy, so reinforce those selling points. "Xbox is the best place to play your entire games library" is a mighty strong sell, especially if publishers give Microsoft carte blanche to include everything from The Witcher 3 to Rocket League as part of their marketing materials.
