Sony may purport to being "for the players", but it's nothing more than a smokescreen. Why? Well, try playing a PlayStation 1, 2 or 3 disc on your PS4.

Exactly.

Legacy is important, and as Nintendo can attest (minus the Switch's shift to going portable and losing its disc drive), there's a consumer-warming purpose to letting investors play a good decade's worth of titles on your new system. This point goes hand-in-hand with focusing on enhancing the Xbox brand, but there are countless phenomenal original Xbox games that would feel the benefit of being played on more accomplished hardware.

Not to mention, being able to factor in footage of something like Morrowind and Jet Set Radio Future into your montages would go a long way to saying that you respect gaming as a medium, and the consumer for sticking with you over the years.

There's really no excuse not to have this after 360 emulation was achieved, so colour the idea very probable indeed.
