9 Essential Video Games Releasing In August 2017
1. Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Not only is XCOM's turn-based mastery dropping on August 29th, but so is the first collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft.
Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle is quite literally 'Mario does XCOM', with a really gorgeous art style seeing the Mushroom Kingdom's various characters pair up with some costumed Rabbids as they take on a number of enemies, one move at a time.
In-motion it looks gorgeous, and gameplay shows a number of 'chain' attacks that let you manoeuvre around the battlefield by combining your party's abilities with where they're standing. Yoshi with a rocket launcher? Princess Peach being launched across the map to pull off a flanking surprise attack?
On the one hand this looks like a more 'introductory' level to one of the most satisfying genres in gaming, but you can bet that innovative Nintendo spin will take it to some new places.
